Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Vic Snyder announced today that he has been elected Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
The current chairman, Rep. Marty Meehan of Massachusetts, has resigned his position in Congress to serve as Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Congressman Snyder will step down as chairman of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee in order to take the Oversight and Investigations Chairmanship.
Under the new Democratic majority, the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee was reinstated in January of this year. The Subcommittee had been dissolved in 1995 when the Republican majority took power.
Congressman Vic Snyder, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, serves on the House Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committees.
