Congressman Trent Franks Engages in House Armed Services Committee Oversight Hearing

February 13, 2007—Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02), third term member on the House Armed Services Committee and member of the Anti-Terrorism Caucus, made the following remarks during today’s Full Committee hearing on security and stability in Afghanistan.

“The battle for security in Afghanistan, like any battle in which America engages, is often determined by the defeat of the will of the enemy. We must defeat the enemy’s will, which is to make Afghanistan a terrorist state controlled by intolerant and violent jihadists. This is the same obstacle that we must overcome in Iraq.”

He continued, “There is also a battle at home and that is over the hearts and minds of the American people and the will of this Congress to continue to support our troops in their noble effort.”

Congressman Franks is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives, is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, Committee on the Judiciary, and is Ranking Member on the Constitution Subcommittee
