MCNERNEY TO HOST BRENTWOOD ECONOMIC SUMMIT

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) announced that he will host an economic summit in Brentwood on May 27 in conjunction with the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce.

The summit will gather business, education, transportation, and economic development experts from Brentwood and throughout Contra Costa County to discuss spurring economic growth in Brentwood, including opportunities that exist as well as the challenges to doing so.

“I am excited about convening this summit,” said Rep. McNerney.  “With a wide variety of speakers and participants I anticipate having a productive dialogue about the ways to stimulate further economic development and bring new jobs and employment opportunities to Brentwood.”

The summit will include an opening address from Rep. McNerney, then a series of panel discussions on a variety of topics such as transportation, agriculture and economic development.  Confirmed panelists include:

  • Bob Taylor, Mayor, City of Brentwood
  • Dr. Kiran Kamath, Dean of Occupational Education, Los Medanos College
  • Bruce Kern, Executive Director, East Bay Economic Development Alliance
  • Bob Lanter, Executive Director, Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County
  • Susan Miller, Director of Projects, Contra Costa Transportation Authority
  • Bijan Sartipi, Caltrans District 4 Director
  • Erick Stonebarger, Council Member, City of Brentwood & Farmer, G & S Farms 

The economic summit will be help on Tuesday, May 27 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Brentwood Community Center.  The Community Center is located at 730 Third St. in Brentwood.
