Los Angeles, CA --Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-33) hosted a Town Hall to discuss health care reform. Constituents were given the opportunity to get answers to H.R. 3200: America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. The Town Hall was held at the WARD A.M.E. Church on Thursday, August 27, 2009. Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Williams, pastor of WARD A.M.E. served as the moderator. “The intent of H.R. 3200: America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 is to provide affordable, quality healthcare and reduce the growth in healthcare spending. The purpose of this Town Hall is to address community concerns regarding Health Care Reform,” said Rep. Watson. The Town Hall meeting attracted a multi-ethnic, standing room only crowd. Constituents within the 33rd District flooded the sanctuary of WARD A.M.E. Questions were answered thoroughly from panelists: Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, AARP President Jeannine English, Executive Director of Health Access CA, Anthony Wright, and Interim President of Drew Medical School, Dr. Keith Norris. Attendees submitted questions ranging from concerns about health coverage for pre-existing health conditions to Medicare and Medicaid coverage under H.R. 3200. “H.R.3200 will insure health coverage for all Americans. I fully support President Barack Obama’s Healthcare Reform which includes the public option,” said Rep. Watson. |
