Congressional Committee Assignments for Rep. Baca Finalized;

Will Serve on Financial Services, Natural Resources and Agriculture Committees

Washington, DC – As the new 110th Congress finalizes the organization of its committees, Rep. Joe Baca (D-Rialto) announced his assignments.

Rep. Baca will serve on the Natural Resources Committee, and he will be a member of the Water and Power Subcommittee.

Rep. Baca said, “I am excited about these appointments and helping oversee America’s natural resources and wildlife.  The committee also has jurisdiction over Native American issues, an area I have been involved in since serving in the California legislature.”

He added, “The issues of the committee and subcommittee are of great importance to California and the 43rd District which I represent.  The Water and Power Subcommittee has jurisdiction over water resources development, including irrigation and water recycling projects and the Federal power administrations, among other areas.  I will work closely with Subcommittee Chair Grace Napolitano to make sure the needs of Southern California communities are addressed.”

Rep. Baca will also continue to serve on the Agriculture Committee as in the 109th Congress and will serve as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition and Forestry.

In addition, Rep. Baca will continue to serve on the Financial Services Committee as he did in the 109th Congress and on the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.
