washington, d.c. — Rep. Brian Bilbray, Chairman of the Immigration Reform Caucus, released the following statement today regarding reports that construction of virtual fences along the Arizona-Mexican border will be delayed “indefinitely”:
“Securing our border needs to be a priority for this Administration. People keep finding reasons not to secure our border and the longer we delay, the greater the risk is to our country. Our border states are under siege from drug trafficking, human smuggling and other illegal activities – I would hope that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Interior Department can come to an agreement that will enable completion of the virtual border fence to be completed as soon as possible.”
