BOYD TO HOST MILITARY ACADEMY DAY

TALLAHASSEE—On Saturday, April 19, 2008, Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) will host his annual Military Academy Day.  High school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are interested in attending one of the U.S. military academies and those students who would like to learn more about ROTC scholarships are encouraged to attend.  As part of the military academy application process, students are required to have a congressional nomination submitted on their behalf.

Congressman Boyd and members of his staff will be joined by representatives from each of the service academies:  U.S. Military Academy (West Point), Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, and Coast Guard Academy.  Representatives from the ROTC units of Florida State University, Florida A & M University, and the University of Florida also will be in attendance.

The event is free and open to students and parents who are interested in learning more about our nation's military academies, requirements for admission, and the appointment process.  For more information about Military Academy Day, please contact Edna Parker in Congressman Boyd’s Tallahassee office at (850) 561-3979 or edna.parker@mail.house.gov.
