Polk Works recognized Congressman Adam Putnam with its “Workforce Champion” award during its Annual Meeting and Best Places to Work Awards Ceremony August 20.
The Workforce Champion Award recognizes an employer, individual or organization for their significant contribution to workforce and economic development initiatives. Putnam has hosted a series of job fairs in the 12th Congressional District to help connect employers with job seekers. Most recently, a job fair Putnam hosted with Sen. Mel Martinez in Plant City August 4 helped connect job seekers with more than 70 business and government employers.
Stacy Campbell-Domineck, President and CEO of Polk Works, presented Putnam with the Award.
Putnam also delivered the keynote address at the meeting. During his remarks he praised the spirit of community partnership that has helped to strengthen Florida’s economy. And he challenged that partnership to adapt and to take advantage of the weak economy in other states to attract new industry and technology to Florida.
Polk Works is a non-profit corporation that oversees the state and federal funds dedicated to preparing and upgrading a skilled workforce. The organization helps thousands of businesses find employees and remain leaders within their industry.
Since 2001, Putnam has represented Florida’s 12th Congressional District, which includes most of Polk County and portions of Hillsborough and Osceola counties.
