	Buchanan to Hold Military Service Academy Seminar Saturday

	Sarasota, FL -- Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-13) announced today that he will hold a Military Service Academy Seminar on Saturday, September 19, 2009. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Sarasota Military Academy, 801 North Orange Avenue in Sarasota. Applicants must have a nomination from an authorized nominating source, such as a Member of Congress to be considered for appointment to a service academy. “It is an important responsibility for me as a Member of Congress to nominate some of the District’s best and brightest students for appointment to our U.S. Military Academies,” said Buchanan. “I encourage anyone interested in an appointment to attend this event.” Selection to the U.S. military service academies for the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines or Navy is extremely competitive. The seminar will provide high school students with information about the nomination process, the military academies and career opportunities following graduation and commissioning as an officer.
