Miami, Florida --- South Florida’s Members of Congress, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Mario Diaz-Balart, will tour the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) and host a press availability tomorrow, March 18, 2007 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The members will also meet with Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel and receive a status report from them on conditions at their facility.

The ARTCC is the high altitude air traffic control center that oversees 500,000 square miles of high altitude air space stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Puerto Rico. Located a mile and a half away from the Miami Air Traffic Control Center, the ARTCC is a key and crucial component of South Florida’s air safety infrastructure.

The Members of Congress have worked closely with the Air Traffic Controllers to assure that their excellent work continues with the tools they require. Ileana, Lincoln and Mario have taken a proactive approach to ensure that the crucial training of next generation air traffic controllers is timely and adequate to meet the demands of a high tech and fast moving profession.
