Ros-Lehtinen To Award $500,000 Check In Federal Funds

To The University of Miami’s Center For Hemispheric Policy 
 

Miami, Florida ---- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who represents the 18th Congressional District and serves as Ranking Republican Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will attend a check presentation at the University of Miami to award $500,000 in federal funds to the university’s Center for Hemispheric Policy.

 

These funds will allow the Center to continue its incredible work examining and holding discussions about our Hemisphere’s critical issues ranging from pending free trade agreements, the ongoing situation in communist Cuba, effects of globalization on relations between developed and developing countries and the recent escalation of tensions between Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

 

WHO: Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, University President, Dr. Donna E. Shalala; Director of the Center for Hemispheric Policy, Dr. Susan Kaufman Purcell; Vice President for Government Affairs Rudy Fernandez and other invited school officials.
