King: Liberal Budgets = Giant Tax Increases
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Steve King cast doubt on a federal budget proposal passed by liberals of the House Budget Committee. The liberal budget outline for more than $3 trillion in federal spending includes $683 billion in tax increases (the largest tax increase in history) and includes spending increases of more than $276 billion.
King reacted to the proposal with the following statement:
“Liberals have spent the last two years handling Congress as if they have an invitation to take more of every taxpayer’s hard earned dollars.”
“If President Bush and conservatives in the Senate didn’t block these liberal tax increases, every American taxpayer’s wallet would be thinner already. But Nancy Pelosi and her liberals are back at it with increases in the marriage penalty tax, the death tax, investment taxes and small business taxes. And to top it off, their budget proposal will slash the child tax credit.”
“If liberals follow through with their budget, they will tax families, the middle-class and small businesses so they can lavish themselves with $276 billion in spending increases on their pet projects.”
“Liberals can do two things well in government- tax and spend. Unfortunately for them, America is at its best when our the government spends less of our money and lowers taxes.”
