Chicago, IL. ---- I am saddened by Steve’s death.  He was a passionate and professional political reporter.  Although we differed occasionally, our political views were shared views.

 The lunches that we shared at Binions, Eli’s, Harry Caray’s and Army & Lou’s were often provocative, political and pleasant.

 I extend my deepest  condolences to his family, his wife Susan, his children, and to all of his dedicated  readers.  The loss of Steve  creates a tremendous vacuum in the body politic in our city and in our nation.
