Washington, DC  ---- Congressman Bobby L. Rush will announce an aggressive legislative initiative to expand discount prescription drug programs through the 340 (B)  drug program at the  University of Chicago, the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine, 4th Floor, Atrium, 5841 South Maryland Ave., Chicago, Monday, March 22, 2004 @ 10:30AM.

Joining Congressman Rush in the news conference will be, Mr. Bill von Oelshun, Public Pharmacy Coalition, Mr. Mike Savage, ACCESS Community Health Network, Mr. Kevin Thompson, University of Chicago,  and other healthcare providers and agencies.

Essentially, Cong. Rush’s legislation will extend the 340 (B) drug program discount for inpatient drugs for disproportionate share hospitals.  The legislation will include other, significant expansions.  The purpose of the legislation is to allow for designated entities to participate in a program that will enable them to pay lower prices for pharmaceuticals and help them to improve the quality of health care services.
