WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Bobby L. Rush released the following statement on news the gunman who took the life of 14-year-old Englewood native Starkeisha Reed in March 2006 was sentenced to 150 years in prison: "The long arm of justice has been served and I am satisfied with this sentence," Rush said. "No family should ever have to go through with the Reed family experienced. Starkeisha was cut down in the prime of her life, when her dreams were fertile and her future bright. We must continue to do all we can to ensure that all of our children are able to live the lives they have been given, and that our communities remain safe and protected places for our youth." |
