Schaumburg, IL - The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Federal Aviation Administration grant funding for runway rehabilitation at the Waukegan Regional Airport today. This resurfacing project is funded entirely through money provided in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, H.R.1, which Congresswoman Melissa Bean and her colleagues passed earlier this year.
The $2,631,579 grant will repair numerous large cracks in Runway 14/32 and will extend the useful life of the pavement.
“As promised, the Recovery Act continues to create jobs, while investing in the transportation infrastructure essential to our community’s future growth,” Congresswoman Bean said. “This is an example of a broad-based initiative to tackle both our short-term and long-term economic challenges.”
The project is part of the $5,281,580 total in federal Recovery Act grants for airport improvements in the State of Illinois announced today by the FAA. Other projects were funded in the communities of Litchfield, Dixon, Jacksonville, and Sterling/Rock Falls.
