BEAN TO HOST CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

Schaumburg, IL - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) will host the Congressional Art Competition, honoring high school students and their artwork this Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Roosevelt University, 1400 N Roosevelt Blvd, Schaumburg, IL 60173.

Bean will congratulate all participating students and present the top three prizes to students selected by local judges.  The winning entry will represent the Eighth Congressional District in the U.S. Capitol complex for a period of one year.

The Congressional Art Competition is an annual competition hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives.  The competition began in 1982 as an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the nationwide competition. One piece from each congressional district is displayed in the Cannon House Office Building hallway leading to the Capitol for a period of one year.
