Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) released the following statement following today’s Surface Transportation Board hearing regarding Canadian National’s proposed purchase of the EJ&E rail line:

“STB officials today heard once again about the unprecedented level of public input on this critical issue. I urge the Board to act responsibly and responsively to the concerns and priorities of our communities and the American taxpayers.  Taxpayers should not be asked to shoulder the burden of a transaction that benefits corporate shareholders.”
