REP. BURTON SPONSORS TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Dan Burton [R-IN-05] will hold his Twenty-Second Annual Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) on Monday March 3, 2008, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion.  This year’s YLC includes 150 participating students representing schools throughout Indiana’s Fifth Congressional District. This year’s panelists include Ken Falk, the Counsel of Record for the Indiana ACLU; Tom Fisher, Solicitor General for the State of Indiana; Jay Berry, the founder of Central Indiana Ethanol; Sara Banaszak, a Senior Economist with the American Petroleum Institute; and Ron Jaeger, of EnerDel.

“I always look forward to my Youth Leadership Conferences,” stated Congressman Burton. “I always find my day with the best and brightest students in my district to be not only fun, but also informative. I am excited to meet and talk with the future leaders of our community, state, country, and world.”

Congressman Burton added, “This year’s YLC should be especially interesting. We have one of the more informed, educated panels that I can remember and we will be discussing the Indiana Voter ID law which was recently argued in front of the U.S. Supreme Court and Alternative Fuels, both of which will mold the world our young people will inherit.”

During the YLC, students will participate in discussions on the Indiana Voter ID Law and Alternative Fuels. Congressman Burton will also personally address the students on a variety of topics coming up in the Second Session of the 110th Congress, and lead a question and answer session.
