Boston Harbor Inner Channel Dredging, Massachusetts Port Authority
One Harborside Drive, Boston, MA 02128

$8,000,000

The Massachusetts Port Authority has requested Federal funding for maintenance dredging of the main shipping channel for the Boston Harbor. This shipping lane serves the Conley Terminal which is the main terminal for container ships to load and unload their goods. The channel servicing this terminal has filled in to a depth of 37 feet. Many vessels that now call at Conley Terminal require a depth of 40 feet of water. Maintenance dredging needs to be done to remove shoals and restore the main lane to its authorized depth of 40 feet. If dredging is not completed, vessels will choose not to traverse these waters.
