Funding requested by the Consortium will be used to bring together leading scientists, engineers and fisherman to develop technological solutions to fishery bycatch problems. The goal being to create a job saving yet conservation alternative that otherwise would close or severely limit fisheries. The activities of the Consortium will help achieve numerous federal policy objectives and statutory mandates to protect threatened and endangered species of marine animals.
