Cummings Urges Colleagues to Support Economic Stimulus Bill |

Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) released the following statement urging his colleagues to join him in supporting H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which is scheduled for a vote in the House of Representatives later today:
“As millions of Americans continue to struggle through the fallout from the past 8 years of poor economic policy, it is more critical than ever that the Congress step in and provide real relief for the real people who are suffering every single day. The comprehensive economic stimulus bill under consideration today is a necessary first step in moving our economy back on course, offering a responsible mix of spending, tax cuts, and new investments in our nation. I strongly urge all of my colleagues to join me in creating and saving 4 million jobs, providing 95 percent of Americans with an immediate tax cut, and investing quickly and wisely in our economy by supporting this legislation.”
