West Michigan Graduates Appointed to US Service Academies

Congressman Ehlers nominated eight appointees who were accepted

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers extends his congratulations to eight students from the Third Congressional District who were appointed to attend four U.S. Service Academies. The recent high school graduates will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY.

“I am proud and honored to have nominated these outstanding students, and I commend them for pursuing a career of service to our nation,” said Congressman Ehlers.

Congressman Ehlers is authorized to nominate candidates from the Third Congressional District to U.S. service academies. The institutions prepare college-age Americans to be officers of the United States uniformed services. Upon graduation, service academy graduates are commissioned as officers in the active or reserve components of the military, the merchant marine, or the U.S. Coast Guard for a minimum of five years.
