Ehlers to host aviation summit

 

Experts to discuss solutions to current air travel challenges

 
 

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Air travel continues to grow as the preferred method of transportation for millions of people in the United States, placing new burdens on airlines, private pilots and air traffic controllers, and on the federal government which oversees them. Local and national experts from both the public and private sectors will convene on Grand Rapids to address these issues at a summit titled, “Aviation in Michigan: What’s on the Horizon?” Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers will moderate the event.

Three panels of experts will discuss the most pressing aviation policy issues during the event on the morning of Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Northern Jet Management hangar at Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Topics will include the modernization of air traffic control systems, the impact of aviation on Michigan’s economy, and efforts in Congress to reauthorize funding for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The public and the press are welcome to attend this free event.
