  • The U.S. House met at 2:00 p.m. for legislative business.  Spoke on the House floor in favor of H.R. 3548, the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act, which would give an additional 13 weeks of benefits for people in states with unemployment rates above 8.5 percent.  The legislation passed by a vote of 331 to 83.
  • Met with Trade Subcommittee Staff to review the week's trade agenda and pending trade issues.
  • Spoke with Deputy USTR Marantis regarding trade issues.

  • The U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business.  Debated and voted on several pieces of legislation including H.R. 3617, the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2009, which will keep road and bridge project funding going for another three months.  
  • Attended Meeting of the Democratic Members of the House to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Attended Meeting with Ways and Means Democrats to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Attended Meeting with Colleagues and USTR Ron Kirk to discuss the recent decision regarding tire imports from China.

  • The. U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business. Spoke on the Floor in favor of H.R. 3631, the Medicare Premium Fairness Act, which would protect seniors and people with disabilities from unfair increases in their 2010 Medicare Part B premiums.  The legislation passed by a bipartisan vote of 406 to 18.
  • Attended Meeting of the Democratic Members of the House to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Met with Michigan Board Members from the National Education Association. 
  • Attended Meeting with Ways and Means Democrats to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Dropped by Congressional Families Cancer Prevention Program Annual Awards Luncheon honoring the outstanding service of individuals in support of cancer prevention, research, treatment and education across the country.
