"My Mother"

Lindsay Gauthier, 7th Grade, Wyandot Middle School

Inspiration fuels great minds to accomplish great things.  This month is Women’s History Month in which we celebrate the women who inspired us, and the women who will inspire us in the future.  Being a young woman myself, I have a great appreciation for the women who stood up for equal rights to give us more opportunity to achieve anything we out our minds to.
One of the greatest women I know is the woman that inspires a little bit in all of us, our mothers.  From the minute, we enter this world they encase us with their love and kindness.  As we grow older, we have to start making our own choices.  We often do not understand how life works and are naïve to the many goals in life and the many paths that can lead us there.  Our mothers help us to reach our goals through their unfailing encouragement.
Courage is one of the many qualities we look for in our heroes and mentors.  Few people possess enough courage to do the single most important job in the world, being a mom.  It takes courage to stand up and take on a carpool of rambunctious kids, or to tell your daughter to take a step in her life that she is hesitant to take.  Far above the rest, is the courage to teach their children to stand up for themselves and fight their own battles.
My mother has given me a lot in life, but the most precious of her gifts is her time.  She always went out of her way to make sure I had the best, and offered everything she had so I could have better than she had.  She has always been the person I have gone to for advice.  She is a teacher and her main focus is to make sure other kids like me have a positive outlook, which has inspired me to help others as my mom has.
Inspirational women don’t have to be superheroes, they do enough just by being who they truly are.  Mothers are superheroes, and prove to be even better than Wonder Woman or Super Girl.  The ability to do things for their children comes from a place deep down, their hearts.
My mother has inspired me to work hard, to help others, and to have pride in myself, and everything I do.  She has given me the tools to be a role model and an inspiration to the people around me.  She has taught me that the best way to inspire is to stand for what you believe in and be who you want to be no matter what.
So all hail to Women’s History Month, and to the minds and souls that it celebrates.  All power to the hearts that beat inside us all, and the dreams and ambitions we have within them.  The memories of the women, who’s names we know well, who have gotten us where we are today deserve a hand, but more than that the women who’s names we haven’t heard before.  Above all is our own selves inspiring us to be great and do great.
