Ypsilanti, MI - {Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following statement on a resolution passed by the Ann Arbor City Council supporting his plan to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and two Dingell-authored bills, HR 15 and HR 2034, that would create a national health insurance program and expand Medicare respectively.
“I thank Mayor Hieftje and the Ann Arbor City Council for their support for the effort to provide healthcare to all Americans. Across the political spectrum, from Michael Moore to Mitt Romney, people are talking about America’s healthcare crisis. Council members clearly understand that programs like Medicare and SCHIP are working and that we must not only protect these essential programs, we must also expand upon their success and extend affordable healthcare coverage to every American. I applaud the Council’s leadership and look forward to working with local representatives to protect the health of Ann Arbor families and communities.
