| Dingell on General Motors Co. Exit from Bankruptcy |
|
Dearborn, MI - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) released the following statement today in reaction to the news that General Motors’ good assets exited from bankruptcy:
“Today is a new day for General Motors and for Michigan. GM will survive, but more importantly, the new company is poised to flourish and once again dominate the automobile marketplace. With great new products like the 2008 Car of the Year Chevy Malibu, the dazzling new Camaro and the forthcoming plug-in electric hybrid Volt and the exciting fuel-efficient Chevrolet Cruze, as well as a new small car soon to be built in Michigan, GM is showing that it will utilize its tremendous workforce to overcome its challenges and lead the auto sector in the 21st century. I applaud the work of all stakeholders – particularly the UAW, which made very painful concessions, and the Obama Administration, which worked tirelessly to save GM from liquidation, for the sacrifices and hard work that went into the GM restructuring. It is has been a long, hard road to this point, and while there are certainly more speed bumps ahead of us, today is a day on which we can all feel good about for GM.”
