Dingell on Rattner Decision to Leave Task Force

Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following comments on Steven Rattner’s decision to leave the Obama administration and the Treasury Department’s auto task force.  Ron Bloom, another member of the Treasury’s auto task force, will now run the task force.

“I think Steven Rattner did a superb job in a very difficult situation.  Certainly no one can question the care he showed when trying to balance the sometimes conflicting interests of stakeholders in the efforts of Chrysler and GM to restructure themselves.  Of course, history will be the final judge on the efforts of all of us who worked to keep the auto industry going, but I think Steve’s hard work did help put GM and Chrysler on a path toward viability.  I look forward to continuing our work to preserve the domestic auto industry with Steve’s successor, Ron Bloom, who has done splendid work himself on the task force.”
