Dingell Commends the Department of Energy for Awarding Energy Grant to Dearborn Heights

Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) applauded the Department of Energy (DOE) for awarding the City of Dearborn Heights an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Worth $477,700, this grant is intended to promote green jobs and improved energy efficiency in the Dearborn Heights area. The EECBG program is funded thorough the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“The EECBC grant is terrific news for Dearborn Heights, which has always shown its commitment to protecting the environment,” Congressman Dingell said. “The EECBC grants are a great form of economic stimulus in this economy. They not only help conserve the environment, but they help to create and protect green jobs in the process. I know that Dearborn Heights will use this money well. I am confident our nation will benefit from grants to cities like Dearborn Heights, which will help put America on the path to energy independence.

The EECBG program began in 2009 and Congress has appropriated $3.2 billion for the program.
