Skelton: AIG Decision On Bonuses Is Deeply Disappointing

Lexington, MO – Today, Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) issued the following statement after learning this weekend that AIG will pay $165 million in bonuses to some of its executives:

“At a time when AIG is receiving hefty assistance from the American people, I am deeply disappointed that the company and its executives could not see clear to give up bonus checks.

“As a country lawyer, I understand contract law very well and realize AIG has obligations to fulfill.  But, contracts or not, it is just plain wrong to take a bonus check for doing a bad job,” said Skelton.
