| Skelton: Recovery Act Provides More Than $215 Million to Missouri’s Fourth District | |||

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) announced that today marks six months since the President signed H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, into law. Congress approved the legislation on February 13, 2009. Since its passage, Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District has received over $215 million in Recovery Act funding. “I am so pleased that communities throughout the Fourth District have secured Recovery Act funding for several important projects. The law is funding a new police vehicle for the Richland Police Department, addressing several maintenance issues at Stockton Lake, repairing 10 barracks at Fort Leonard Wood, and putting thirty-six youth to work in Johnson County. Many of the projects will increase access to community health centers, renovate schools, and upgrade roads and bridges in the District. Other projects will significantly improve quality of life for rural Missourians. These projects will save and create jobs, and will generate revenue for families and businesses throughout the Fourth District,” said Skelton. The Recovery Act is a comprehensive stimulus plan that includes more than $288 billion in tax cuts and $499 billion in stimulus spending and is designed to reduce the length and severity of the recession and its impact on the American people and our national security.
