Skelton: Rural Communities in the Fourth District Will Benefit From Recovery Funding

          Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will release more than $130,600 to upgrade community facilities in Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District.  These funds will be made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and will be distributed through the USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program.

          “I was pleased to learn that rural communities in the Fourth District will receive Recovery Act funding to revitalize their community facilities.  These funds will certainly improve the quality of life in rural areas throughout the district,” said Skelton.

          The communities in Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District to receive funding from the Recovery Act include:

          City of Fair Play, $33,670 grant;
          City of Lebanon, $59,500 grant;
          Village of Dadeville, $13,750 grant;
          Village of South Greenfield, $9,000 grant;
          Dade County, $14,690 grant.

          The USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program provides financial assistance for community facilities for public use in rural areas.  These facilities include schools, libraries, hospitals, childcare centers, assisted living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, and public buildings.  Public entities, non-profit organizations, and federally recognized Indian tribes are eligible to apply for funding.
