Skelton Says Crocker Police Department Will Secure Funding From Recovery Act

          Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice will release more than $175,000 to the Crocker Police Department to hire two new police officers and purchase a video-equipped patrol vehicle and K-9 patrol and training equipment.   The funding will be made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will be distributed through the Bureau of Justice Assistance office.

          “I was pleased to learn that the Crocker Police Department will benefit from funds associated with the Recovery Act passed by Congress.  The additional police officers, new police vehicle, and K-9 training equipment will significantly improve the law enforcement operations for the department.  This is exactly why it was important for Congress to pass the Recovery Act – to create jobs and ensure our law enforcement agencies have the tools they need to serve and protect the community,” said Skelton.

          The Bureau of Justice Assistance office provides financial support to rural states and rural law enforcement agencies to prevent and combat crime, especially drug-related crime, train law enforcement officers, and improve detention and jail operations.
