Washington, D.C. – House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-MO) says the Department of Defense will invest another $4.4 million for 15 projects in Missouri through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This funding is in addition to more than $84 million for 57 defense projects in Missouri announced in March. “I was pleased to learn that Fort Leonard Wood and Camp Clark in Nevada will receive Recovery Act funding for several important facilities sustainment, restoration, and modernization projects. Fort Leonard Wood will receive $1.8 million for 10 barracks repair and upgrade projects, and Camp Clark will receive $640,000 for 4 barracks repair and upgrade projects. Fort Leonard Wood will also receive $1.9 million for sewage treatment plant repairs,” said Skelton. “Our Active Duty and National Guard troops deserve facilities that meet modern codes and ensure the quality of life the American people expect to provide to our service members. Creating jobs is critical, but we also have a responsibility to take proper care of our troops and maintain the infrastructure investments our nation has made through the years,” said Skelton. On April 28, 2009, the Department of Defense announced the details of more than 850 additional facility improvement projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The $835 million budget for these new projects represents the remaining funds of the first ARRA infrastructure investment list announced on March 20, 2009. These projects will be conducted at Army and Army National Guard facilities in 37 states and the District of Columbia. A list of the newly announced Missouri projects can be found by clicking here.
