Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will release $417,000 to the Jackson County Public Water Supply District #17 in Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District. These funds were made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and will be distributed through the USDA Rural Development office. “I was pleased to learn that Water Supply District #17 in Jackson County will receive Recovery Act funding. Many communities, particularly rural communities, work very hard and often struggle to make sure that their water systems meet safety standards and comply with federal regulations. This Recovery funding will help to provide them with the resources to do so and will put people to work in Missouri,” said Skelton. The Jackson County Public Water Supply District #17 serves approximately 850 residents near Grain Valley, Missouri. - 30 - Congressman Ike Skelton (D-MO) serves as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee .
