Emerson: Taney County to Get Dept. of Justice Grant for Police Equipment  – August 31, 2009
WASHINGTON   –  U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded Taney County a Byrne/JAG grant in the amount of $12,589.  The funds will be used for the purchase and installation of software in Taney County Sheriff’s Department patrol cars.

“Every little bit that these grant programs can help our local police departments is worthwhile because it relieves more local funds for the day-to-day operations of law enforcement and first responders,” Emerson said.  “I am very proud that Taney County has secured these funds, and I congratulate the Taney County Sheriff’s Department on their success in bringing this grant to the County.  As they continue to do a tremendous job of policing our communities with the public safety in mind, I am glad the equipment purchased with this grant will help keep our officers in uniform safe as well.”

Emerson is an annual advocate in Congress for national funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for the U.S. Department of Justice.
