Jones (R-NC) successfully secured funding in the measure for programs at Eastern North Carolina’s military installations.

“This funding addresses some of the growing needs that our United States military faces on a daily basis,” Jones said.  “Passage of this bill marks significant progress in our efforts to keep our Eastern North Carolina men and women in uniform prepared to meet the physical and mental challenges they face in their important and demanding jobs.”

H.R. 4425 provides $141 million for hospital medical facilities for troops and their families, $2.7 billion for operation and maintenance of existing housing units, and $859 million for new housing units.  The bill also includes more than $84 million for construction and maintenance programs at Eastern North Carolina’s military bases.

The bill includes:

  • $14 million for the Armory at Camp Lejeune
  • $14.3 million for Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at Camp Lejeune
  • $9.5 million for an amphibious operations/maintenance storage complex at Camp Lejeune
  • $4.42 million for the child development center at Camp Lejeune
  • $3.65 million for an operations/maintenance facility at Camp Lejeune
  • $5.914 million for Russell Elementary School at Camp Lejeune
  • $8.48 million for improvements to the aircraft hangar at Cherry Point
  • $5.7 million to replace fuel storage tanks at Cherry Point
  • $7.54 million for an addition to the aircraft stripping facility at Cherry Point Naval Aviation Depot
  • $800,000 for an aircraft rinse facility at New River Air Station
  • $2.6 million for an air traffic control tower at New River

“This funding will go a long way to improve our military housing, expand and improve infrastructure, and ensure our troops are trained and ready to fulfill their commitment to this great country,” Jones said.
