| Washington, D.C. — By a vote of 379 – 45, the U.S.
House of Representatives yesterday passed the Fiscal Year 2000 Department
of Defense spending bill (H R 2561), which includes funding for programs
and equipment for Eastern North Carolina bases.
“This bill will bring some important defense funding to Eastern North
Carolina,” Jones said. “When our military struggles with continued
cuts to its defense budget, this measure directs needed funds to upgrade
our aging equipment and assist our military families.”
