WALSH ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $2 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HANCOCK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 

Federal Aviation Administration Grants to Pay for Safety Equipment and Runway Rehab

     
     

(Washington D.C.)- Congressman Jim Walsh today announced $2,166,000 in federal grants from the Federal Aviation Administration for Syracuse Hancock International Airport. The federal funding will be used to purchase new snow removal and safety equipment, and to rehabilitate a runway and taxiway. 

 

$ 475,000 will be used to acquire a multi-purpose snow removal vehicle including a snow blower, plow and brush. The current snow removal vehicle has exceeded its useful life and requires replacement.

 

$ 950,000 will be used to acquire an aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle. The replacement of this vehicle was recommended in a recent certification inspection.

 

$ 741,000 is for the rehabilitation of Runway 15-33 and Taxiway M. The pavement of the intersection of Runway 15-33 is displaying signs of severe cracking and requires repair. The pavement of Taxiway M is also in very poor condition.
