(Irondequoit, N.Y.)- Congressman Jim Walsh is scheduled to participate in groundbreaking festivities on Monday, July 28th at 10:00 a.m. to mark the beginning of construction of the Town of Irondequoit’s 590 project.
Walsh secured $8.5 million in federal funding for the roadway reconstruction, $6 million in the 2005 transportation authorization bill (SAFETEA-LU) and $2.5 million in the FY 2004 Transportation Appropriations bill.
“When former Town Supervisor Dave Schantz first contacted me years ago about his idea to reformulate 590 into a landscaped, more pedestrian-friendly roadway, I immediately pledged my support,” said Walsh. “I commend Supervisor Heyman and members of the Town Board for furthering this vision into reality. The resulting Sea Breeze Drive will be safer and more aesthetically pleasing and serve as an impressive gateway into Irondequoit and the Sea Breeze area.”
The event will be staged at the intersection of Titus Avenue and NYS 590.
