Students, Parents, School Administrators & Guidance Counselors Invited to Informational Meeting
Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) will host Academy Night 2009, an opportunity for high school students, their families, school administrators and counselors to find out more about Military Academy institutions, programs and the application process.
“We invite those interested to come to Academy Night, hear about the schools first hand from Academy representatives and learn how to apply,” said Congressman Higgins.
Representatives from the US Military Academy at West Point, US Naval Academy at Annapolis, US Air Force Academy, US Merchant Marine Academy, and the Army ROTC will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Academy Night will be held from 7:00 – 9:00pm on Thursday, October 15, 2009. The event will take place at Hamburg High School, 4111 Legion Drive in Hamburg, New York. Registration is not required.
Service Academy appointments are made by the President of the United States based on congressional and/or military nominations. Each year Congressman Higgins appoints an Academy Advisory Board, made up of WNY veterans and community leaders, to interview all applicants and make recommendations.
