SPACE LAUNCHES STUDENT LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN TO SEND CHRISTMAS WISHES TO SERVICE MEMBERS FIGHTING OVERSEAS

Schools Contacted to have Students Send Holiday Greetings to American Heroes

December 5, 2007

Washington, DC -- With the Christmas season approaching and many families kept apart by the ongoing wars overseas, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) has launched a campaign to encourage Ohio students to extend Christmas and New Year greetings to soldiers overseas.  Space’s Dover office will collect all the letters and cards and then send them overseas to be distributed to soldiers.

“It saddens me that so many of our brave men and women will not be able to feel the joy that normally accompanies this season because they are thousands of miles away from their families,” said Space.  “Hopefully, receiving a small token of gratitude will help bridge those miles.”

“What better way to thank our troops abroad than to send a holiday card to let them know their sacrifices are appreciated by all of us back home?”

Christmas and New Year’s cards and letters should be sent to the Congressman’s Dover office.  For security reasons, the United States military cannot give out names and addresses of individual service members.  Students interested in participating should therefore address each card to “A Brave Soldier” and send it unaddressed and unsealed to:

137 East Iron Ave.
Dover, OH 44622

In order to get the letters to our soldiers in a timely fashion, December 14th is the suggested deadline for submission.  If you have questions or if you would like to ensure that your loved one receives holiday greetings from Ohio students, please call 1-866-910-7577.
