WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman David Wu’s office ceased taking requests for tickets to President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, November 26, as previously announced.
Tickets will be allocated in the coming weeks and every attempt will be made to notify all of those who requested tickets as to the status of their request.
Please note that we received substantially more requests than we will be able to fill. Given the very high volume of requests reported by many members of Congress, we expect that tickets to the secure sections of the event will be scarce. Please note that all tickets are being distributed through members of the 111th Congress, and will only be provided to members a few days before the inauguration. Any website or ticket broker claiming to have inauguration tickets for sale is not telling the truth, and the selling of inaugural tickets is illegal.
We know that many Oregonians may choose to visit DC for these historic events whether or not they receive tickets to the swearing-in ceremony. We anticipate that there will be un-ticketed public viewing areas on the National Mall for some inaugural events, and we will provide more information as details are released.
For updated information about the inauguration, please visit http://inaugural.senate.gov or www.pic2009.org.
