Walden to Visit Heppner for Annual “Wee Bit of Ireland” St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

 
 

 

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Greg Walden (R-OR) will visit Heppner on March 17th and 18th for the city’s 24th annual “Wee Bit of Ireland” celebration.  During his visit, Walden will participate in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities and have the opportunity to meet with area residents and discuss important local, state and federal issues.  This visit is part of his 265th round trip between Oregon and Washington, D.C. since taking office in 1999. 

“I’m looking forward to being in Heppner again and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with the community.  It is always a wonderful set of events and a terrific opportunity to meet with residents to discuss issues important to the area while having a great time,” said Walden. 

Walden’s schedule is as follows:

FRIDAY, MARCH 17th
5:30 – 6:00 PM:
Stew dinner at the Heppner Senior Center with area residents
6:00 – 9:00 PM: Social hour and live auction at the Elk’s Lodge

SATURDAY, MARCH 18th
8:00 – 9:30 AM:
Breakfast at the Heppner Senior Center with area residents
10:00 – 11:30 AM: KUMA “Coffee Hour” program at the Elk’s Lodge
Noon – 12:30 PM: Lunch with local residents at the Heppner Senior Center
12:30 – 1:30 PM: Annual Irish Parade with former Heppner Mayor Bob Jepsen and his wife Suzanne

Congressman Walden is in his fourth term representing the people of Oregon’s Second Congressional District, which includes 20 counties in southern, central and eastern Oregon.  He is a Deputy Whip in the House leadership structure and a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce as well as the Committee on Resources.
