WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), commends former President Bill Clinton for his efforts in bringing relief to millions of African and Caribbean residents suffering with HIV/AIDS.
Over the last three months, The William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation has successfully negotiated with medical companies and drug manufactures to bring down the cost of tests and medications. Combined, the agreements will reduce the annual cost of treating an AIDS patient from $800 to $250.
"President Clinton continues to show his commitment to reduce both the spread of AIDS and the skyrocketing treatment cost," said Fattah. "Affordable prices mean more people will be able to receive care and millions of lives will be saved." |
