SHUSTER ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR JUNIATA, PERRY RECREATIONAL AREAS

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today funding for recreational facilities in Juniata and Perry counties.  The funding was secured in the Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill and includes Fermanagh Township Park near Mifflintown, Liverpool Township’s Community Pool, Marysville Playground and Toboyne Township’s baseball park.

“After working with area officials at the state and local level, we were able to address some of the community’s needs by securing funding for improvement projects at a handful of recreational areas,” said Shuster.

“It was great working with Congressman Shuster to secure funding for these projects, and I appreciate him working with us to meet the needs of our community,” said State Representative Mark Keller, who represents Perry County.

“Congressman Shuster took the time to come to Juniata County and personally meet with the group promoting the project.  At the end of the day he was able to come through with much-needed federal funds for this worthwhile project.  We truly appreciate his support of our community,” said State Representative Adam Harris, who represents Juniata and Mifflin counties.

Fermanagh Township (Juniata County) and Marysville (Perry County) will receive $25,000 and $10,000 respectively for playground improvements.  Liverpool Township (Perry County) will receive $47,000 for a community pool restoration project and Toboyne Township (Perry County) will receive $15,000 toward renovations of their baseball park.

The Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill has passed Congress and was recently signed into law by President Bush.
