Rep. Pitts on Passage of Pelosi Healthcare Reform
Washington- Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s healthcare bill, H.R. 3962, passed the House of Representatives this evening 220-215. Rep. Joe Pitts (PA-16) voted against the bill.
Rep. Pitts statement follows:
"Instead of passing healthcare reform with a united front of Democrats and Republicans, Speaker Nancy Pelosi chose to reject bipartisanship and twist arms to pass this bill with a slim majority. The American people can have no confidence in this bill that seeks to take over 17 percent of the American economy.
“We are facing the worst recession in decades, but this bill actually kills jobs. If this bill becomes law, more than 5.5 million Americans could join the ranks of the unemployed. We need healthcare reform, but not reform that burdens individuals and businesses with new taxes and future generations with more debt.”
