Hydroelectric Project Will Bring New Jobs and Clean Power to Lancaster County

Washington- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved an expansion of the Holtwood hydroelectric plant that will increase power generation and improve fish passage. The installation of generators doubling the capacity of the plant will create over 200 jobs.

Rep. Pitts’ statement follows:

“I’m very satisfied to see that federal regulators have approved the expansion of an electric plant that produces clean energy for our community. Upgrading our existing hydroelectric facilities is just one of the many ways our nation can move toward energy independence.”

“The new license will ensure that the plant will continue operating for decades and the improvements will create local jobs at a time when they are much needed.”
