LANGEVIN PRESENTS COMBAT MEDALS

(Warwick, R.I.)–Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) presented the parents of U. S. Army Captain Matthew August three medals for his service and dedication. August was killed in action on January 27, 2004 in Khalidiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device exploded next to his convoy.

“It is an honor for me to remember Captain August with the Iraq Campaign Medal – for service in Operation Iraqi Freedom; the Combat Action Badge – for active engagement with the enemy and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal – recognizing contributions to the larger Global War on Terrorism,” said Langevin.

Pictured with Congressman Langevin are Richard and Donna August, Captain August's parents.
